What is “pv” Package?

Monitor data’s progress through a pipe. pv (Pipe Viewer) can be inserted into any normal pipeline between two processes to give a visual indication of how quickly data is passing through, how long it has taken, how near to completion it is, and an estimate of how long it will be until completion.

Installation

• Open Terminal by pressing command+space then type terminal and hit Enter key.
• Install homebrew first.

  ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)" < /dev/null 2> /dev/null

• Install pv.

  brew install pv

Now, use pv!
